What is the study about?

This study aims to compile a robust sample of Asian American and Canadian subjects for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) research. Asians are the fastest-growing population in both countries, yet they are underrepresented in AD research. ACAD aims to address this gap by starting with a cohort of individuals of Chinese ancestry in Toronto and extending to other major Asian populations in both countries. We also study how genetics and other non-genetic factors of Asian people, may be associated with risks for developing dementia (severe memory problems) in their old age.
