CAMH Grand Rounds (Virtual): Dementia in the Community: from Epidemiology to Population Neuroscience

Presenter: Mary Ganguli, MD, MPH, FRCP(C)

Presenter Bio: Mary Ganguli is Professor of Psychiatry, Neurology, and Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and School of Public Health.  She is a practicing geriatric psychiatrist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  Her research into the epidemiology of cognitive impairment and dementia has been funded continuously by the National Institute on Aging (NIH) since 1986.  Dr. Ganguli has served on the American Psychiatric Association’s DSM-5 Work Group on Neurocognitive Disorders, on the American Academy of Neurology’s Practice Parameter Work Group on Mild Cognitive Impairment, and on the National Advisory Council on Aging. 

Learning Objectives:

  1. To recognize the relevance of population studies.
  2. To describe the various outcomes of mild cognitive impairment.
  3. To understand some risk factors for mild cognitive impairment and dementia.
