Task Sequencing & Dementia Study
Observational Study
Full study title: Understanding Task Sequencing in People with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and Dementia to Inform the Use of Mixed Reality
What is the study about?
We are studying how people complete three everyday tasks. We are inviting older adults living with MCI or dementia to complete the tasks to see if or where they have difficulties. To help us understand these difficulties, we also want to see how older adults without cognitive impairment complete the tasks. We are asking everyone to complete the tasks under the same conditions, which should take one session. Your session will be video recorded.
Eligibility – Who can participate?
Older adults with or without MCI or dementia.
Participants must:
Older adults with MCI or dementia
- Age 60-85
- Fluent in English
- Complete a memory test
- No physical or sensory impairments
Older adults without MCI or dementia
- Age 60-85
- Fluent in English
- Complete a memory test
- No cognitive, sensory, or physical impairments
Time requirement
Meet with a member of the study team for 1-1.5 hours at the Home Lab to complete memory testing, a demographic survey, and three household tasks: (1) making a cup of coffee/tea, (2) folding laundry, (3) making a bed.
