Medical Student Post-Doctoral Summer Research Program (MSPDSRP)

Description

The Medical Student Post-Doctoral Summer Research Program (MSPDSRP) at the University of Toronto offers MD students with a doctoral degree the opportunity to engage in a full-time, 10-week summer research project. The program is open to first and second-year MD students, excluding MD/PhD students. Students who are already receiving salary support for the same project are ineligible. Participants may only be funded once through this program and cannot apply to both this program and the CREMS stream.

The program runs for 10 weeks, from June to August, and students must work full-time on the research project, residing in Ontario for the duration of the program. The total stipend is $6,000, with $2,750 provided by the University of Toronto and $3,250 covered by the supervisor. TDRA will cover the research supervisor’s portion of the stipend for a select number of students pursuing dementia research, specifically those working with researchers from the TDRA community or at TDRA-affiliated sites.

Students are responsible for identifying their own supervisor, who must hold a faculty appointment at the University of Toronto and have the resources to cover part of the stipend. Supervisors should have prior experience mentoring students and the funding to support the student’s research. Students are encouraged to meet with potential supervisors to ensure the alignment of their research interests and working styles.
