The TDRA is recruiting for Patient Family Advisors to make up the TDRA Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC).
The Patient and Family or Care Partner role is a volunteer position that is advisory in nature, and whose goal it is to inform a wide range of dementia research initiatives, programs, services and policies. Patient and Family Advisors will provide valuable patient and family perspectives, building on the principles of Patient Involvement in Research. They are expected to be objective and balanced in their approach.
The TDRA will work with members of the PFAC to better integrate the perspectives of patients, family care partners, and research volunteers in TDRA-led research. The PFAC will provide input on priority items identified by the TDRA Clinical Research Core that are focused and within scope. Some of the responsibilities of this Council are to:
- Provide feedback on strategic goals, direction and research led by the TDRA;
- Facilitate knowledge translation efforts with community advocacy organizations
- Guide the creation of educational tools intended for research study participants
- Provide a forum for study participants and partners to provide feedback on their experience in a TDRA study
